Two men who thought of their friendship was extremely strong went on a journey to experience the world together.
As they were walking, one friend found a wallet full of cash on a street.
“Wow! Today is MY lucky day” exclaimed the friend.
Then the other friend commented with a frown on his face, “How could you say, ‘MY’ lucky day friend. Wouldn’t it be better to say, ‘OUR’ lucky day?”
Their relationship became a bit awkward from that point on but they continued. As they started walking, a man chased after them shouting “Stop, you thieves!“
The man who found the wallet replied as he was looking at his friend, “Why are you accusing US as thieves. WE just found this wallet on this street.”
The other friend who heard this said sarcastically, “How can you say that. Didn’t you say earlier, ‘Today is MY lucky day!’ when you felt lucky? And yet, when you are in trouble, you use the word, ‘WE?’ What kind of friendship is that?”
This story reflects how I am selfishness in my relationships with others. I, too, use “I” for my benefit but use “WE” to dodge or minimize my responsibility. Paul said in Gal. 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” I am not sure how you see this but I believe God is using “WE” in dealing with MY everyday life from the time I accepted Jesus Christ in my life. In fact, I believe that God calls me “friend” as He called Abraham “God’s friend” in James 2:23.
It is great and blessing to know that my God doesn’t change how He feels about me every so often. What a friend I have in Jesus!
Have a wonderful week! ^_^
